Last week I captured the footage and edited the footage into My Final Cut Pro project and saved it so that i could edit later on during the week. Later on I Went to edit it the next day and everything had disappeared but this week I have managed to redo the trailer and have double saved it so that this sort of thing won't happen again.

I also learned that the show was still going to happen on the 8th despite the fact that we had a meeting with the performing arts side and both sides agreed to put the show back a week.

Now with only 48 Hours till the show the pressure is on. Hopefully this show will work out

The Catering has been sorted out and i am going to be writing my Blurb about my part of the Exhibit.

Today we Had a Meeting with The Performing arts students and we have agreed to push the Date for the Show Back on to the 14th of December. This Gives us some more time to work on the Stuff that we are doing for the Show.

This News will actually be good for some people as certain parts of the show are not quite ready.

This also Means that i will have to change the date on the Website.(Luckily it wasn't Published yet)

UPDATE 30 November 2010

Last Friday Afternoon I managed to film the Footage that i needed for My Film Trailer and am Currently Waiting to Capture it. This is Proving to be Difficult as All the Cameras have been Taken out over the Weekend and Haven't Been Returned Yet. This is Really Annoying but hey These Things Happen.

As soon as the Cameras Have Been Returned I Can Capture the footage and Edit it for My Trailer. I am Getting worried that it won't be done in time Because of the Cameras Not Being here to Capture the Footage.

Lauren Came up with The Idea of Jigsaw and although the Name is already being used as a Clothing Brand we Decided to use the Image of a Jigsaw piece as The Logo with The Letters COLLE in a Stencil Type font and the letters CTIVE as a Different font and be a Solid Colour

We also discussed the idea of each of us having our own Work underneath the Letters COLLE and also making our Own Posters

01/10/10 Acorn Interview

Today we had an interview with Emma Joyce who is the Operations manager of The Acorn Art Centre.

The Acorn Has 5 Full time Members of staff.

These Are...
Toni = Director
Emma = Operations Manager
a Sound Technician
a Lighting Techinician
a person on the Box office

But the main People who are the Boss are The Board of Trustees.

The acorn is 41 years old and when it was bought it used to be a church which is very useful for the acoustics are really Good especially for Acoustic Performances.

12 years ago the Acorn received a Big Lottery Grant for the sum of Half a Million pounds this went on The Renovation of the Floor on the Main Theatre and Getting New Equipment after which they have been able to do Music Performances.

The Acorn Creates a Different Atmosphere for each type of show so for example a Rock show would Have the Band on a Stage near the Back of the Main Room where as a Stand Up Comedian will be on a stage with the Audience close to the Stage.

30/09/2010

Well where can I start hmm. Oh I Know lets Star with the good news. Today with Help From Sam Jubb we managed to fix the track that was missing the file that was needed for the track to be not complete but an essential part of the Track so I am really happy that that is sorted out.

Ideas for Show.

For The Unit Show I have decide to do an EP CD which will have a variety of genres and one of the Tracks that I will make and put on the EP will be in Memory of My Uncle who was a great musician in my eyes. My Uncle Sadly was taken away from my family and me at Christmas of 2008 and I would like to do something to preserve his memory. The tracks will vary in style. I will also Make a Cover with a few pictures in it. I will go through the whole process from writing the songs to recording them to designing the CD Cover to Making the CD Cover

The length of My EP will be between 25 and 30 minutes

Over the past few weeks i have been thinking up ideas as to what to do for The Unit Show. To do this I have been Looking into a few practitioners and have put together a list of ideas.

The List includes

(1) A Music Track with Visuals

(2) An Untitled EP

(3) A Music Video

(4) A Preview/Teaser Trailer for a film of my own Creation

More ideas when I think of them

The Practitioners that I have looked up include

(1) Sandra Jensen = GOTHMINISTER Dark Salvation, MAGENTA Darkest Dream

(2) Chris Cunningham = - Squarepusher - Come On My Selector, Madonna - Frozen

(3) Brian Smith = Iced Earth When the eagle cries, Iced Earth The reckoning

(4) Roger Johansson = Demons & Wizards Terror Train

Artists

The artists that i have looked up include...

(1) Iced Earth: Enter the Realm 1989 · The Melancholy EP 1999 · The Reckoning 2003 · Overture of the Wicked 2007 · I Walk Among You 2008

(2)

I think this Idea is really good as it also gives me a chance to experience the things that my Uncle did while he was a musician.

For this project I would like the Help of Sam Jubb as he is very good at recording and can help me with Logic Pro 9. He will also be able to help me with any problems that occur while Recording

My Target audience for this is Mature Young Adults who are of the Working Middle Class because there will be different genre’s of music on this EP so not all the tracks will appeal to everyone but they might like some of them.

Update 04/10/10

A new idea has come to my mind and this idea is to do a Live performance of a couple of my tracks. The reason why I Have came up with this idea is so that people can experience what the Tracks are like Live.

Montol Festival

In the town of Penzance Cornwall about once a year there is a Festival known throughout Cornwall as The Montol Festival.

Origin of the word Montol

Edward Lhuyd in his 1700 MSS. of vocabulary in the Cornish language states that "Montol" means Winter Solstice. However he later translates the word as "balance" (in Latin Trutina)

Like The Mazey Day Festival Montol is one of the old Time Traditional Cornish Holidays that Happened Once a Year until World War I in Penzance and in St Ives the festival Was Stopped in 1984 and has only Recently in the past Few years Been Brought Back into the Cornish Community.

The Organisation of the Festival

The Festival Isn't Just something you can Make up On The Day (Oh No) This Event Takes Time To Plan During Which Time you have to get a Road Closure Notice (this takes 3 Months).

What The Festival Includes

The Festival includes The Traditional Chalking of The Mark Which is the way of Seeing out The Old Year in Style This Involves a Wooden Trunk of a tree that is marked in white chalk and is Ceremoniously Burned at the Top of Lescudjack Hill Fort After The Precession Through the Town Of Penzance. Montol is Also The last Time of the Year You Will Get To See The Legendary Penglaze The Local Obby Oss

Glastonbury Festival Research

1970 (19th September)
The first Festival was held on the day after Jimi Hendrix died, over a two day period and before long “word had got around”. It was the Blues festival at the Bath & West Showground that had inspired Michael Eavis to begin a festival of his own although on a smaller scale.
Acts included: Marc Bolan, Keith Christmas, Stackridge, Al Stewart, Quintessence
Attendance: 1,500.
Price: £1 including free milk from the farm.

1971 (20th - 24th June)
The Festival moved to the time of the Summer Solstice and was known as the "Glastonbury Fayre". It had been planned by Andrew Kerr and Arabella Churchill who felt all other festivals at the time were over commercialised. It was paid for by the few who supported the ideal so the entrance was free and took a medieval tradition of music, dance, poetry, theatre, lights and spontaneous entertainment. It was in this year that the first "pyramid" stage was constructed out of scaffolding and expanded metal covered with plastic sheeting, built on a site above the Glastonbury-Stonehenge ley line. The musicians who performed recorded a now very rare album. The Festival is also captured "a la Woodstock" by a film crew that included Nick Roeg and David Puttnam. This film was called "Glastonbury Fayre".
Acts included: Hawkwind, Traffic, Melanie, David Bowie, Joan Baez, Fairport Convention and Quintessence.
Attendance: estimated at 12,000.
Price: free.

1978 (28th - 8th July)
Festival. This happened with the arrival of travellers washed out from Stonehenge who were led to believe that a festival was taking place. After persuasive discussion, a free mini Festival did take place. There was little organisation and few facilities layed on but somehow it did not matter - the stage was powered by an electric meter in a caravan with the cable running to the stage.
Attendance: 500.

1979 (21st - 23rd June)
Now a three day event and was still referred to as the Glastonbury Fayre but with the theme of “the year of the child”. Bill Harkin and Arabella Churchill were the instigators on this occasion and turned to Michael Eavis for financial backing. He secured a bank loan against the deeds of the farm. Special provision and entertainment was provided for children and it was at this event that the concept of the Children’s World charity was born which still exists today and works in special schools throughout Somerset and Avon Again, despite the numbers attending, the organisers suffered a huge financial loss and no one wanted to risk another festival in 1980. It was also this summer that Michael’s youngest daughter, Emily was born.

Acts included: Peter Gabriel, Steve Hillage, Alex Harvey Band, Sky and the Footsbarn Theatre. Attendance: 12,000. Tickets: £5.

1981 (19th - 21st June)
The name was changed to Glastonbury Festival and Michael Eavis took the helm running the event again. This was the first “Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament” festival. Michael helped positively towards the peace movement by holding the Festival at Worthy farm to benefit the Mid Somerset CND campaign. Michael had to convince National CND and said that with proper management the Festival could be turned into a profitable venture. Agreement was reached with National CND sending out information in their mailings, handling advance ticket sales and allowing the use of the CND logo. It was up to Michael to provide the money, arrange entertainment and organise the event, liaise with the authorities and organise market stalls etc.

It was this year that it was decided to build a new Pyramid stage. However, this time it was a permanent structure, doubling as a cowshed and animal food store during the winter months. It took two months to build the permanent Pyramid stage out of telegraph poles and ex-MOD metal sheeting. The CND logo was not present at this Festival, as it was too heavy to lift into position at the apex. Michael Eavis eventually handed over approximately £20,000 to a very grateful CND.

Acts included: New Order, Hawkwind, Taj Mahal, Aswad, Gordon Giltrap.

Attendance: 18,000. Tickets: £8.

1982 (18th - 20th June)
Again, there was CND involvement and it was this year that Western Region CND took control of the entrance gates and Mid Somerset CND took charge of all the information.

This year was a muddy year with lots of bad weather. In fact, the highest rainfall for a single day in 45 years was recorded on the Friday but it was also the year of the first laser show backed by Tubeway Army's "Are friends electric?".

Acts included: Van Morrison, Judie Tzuke, Jackson Browne, Roy Harper, Richie Havens.

Attendance: 25,000. Tickets: £8.

1983 (17th -19th June)
1983 called for a licence to be obtained for the event since the introduction of the local Government Act became law, giving local authorities the power to regulate such events by stipulating the conditions. Mendip District Council issued a Public Entertainment Licence which set a crowd limit of 30,000 and went into considerable detail about access roads, water supply, hygiene and so on. It was also the first year that the Festival had its own radio station, Radio Avalon. £45,000 was eventually raised for CND and local charities.

Acts included: Marillon, The Beat, UB40, Curtis Mayfield, King Sunny Ade.

Attendance: 30,000. Tickets: £12. Programme price: 80 pence.
